Although Dr. Oliver spent summers and holidays in his family home in Pawleys Island, SC, he grew up in many areas of our country as the son of an Air Force fighter pilot. The experience allowed him the opportunity to work with and respect many different people and cultures. He returned to South Carolina to attend The Citadel and the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), College of Pharmacy, obtaining his BS in Pharmacy in 1981. He worked as a pharmacist and store manager for 3 years until he returned to the MUSC, College of Medicine, obtaining his medical degree in 1988. His General Surgery internship was performed at MUSC and a second year of General Surgery residency was performed at the Medical College of Virginia (MCV) in Richmond, VA. He completed the Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Residency program at MCV in 1994. His research, presentation, and publishing interests were focused on pediatric disorders, sinus disease, head and neck cancer and complex reconstructive procedures.

Dr. Oliver has practiced Ear, Nose and Throat (Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery) in Savannah since 1994. He has been on staff at St Joseph’s/Candler HospitalMemorial Health University Medical Center and Evans Memorial Hospital. He has remained active on the hospital committees and advisory panels. He has worked on committees for local fundraisers and charitable organizations. He has donated his time to the Georgia state legislature during the legislative sessions as Doctor of the Day. He is Past President of the Georgia Medical Society and remains active on the Board of Directors and as a Delegate to the House of Delegates of the Medical Association of Georgia. He is Past President of the Georgia Society of Ambulatory Surgical Centers. He developed and was managing partner of an ambulatory surgical center.

In 2009 he became a solo practitioner as Coastal Ear, Nose & Throat and continues his practice focus on pediatric ENT disorders, sinus disease, sleep apnea treatment and many innovative outpatient and office minimally invasive procedures. He has developed extensive experience in the treatment of sinus disease with In Office Balloon Sinuplasty, a treatment that in some cases has comparable results with traditional endoscopic sinus surgery with earlier intervention, much lower costs and minimal recovery time. He has performed the only Endoscopic Salivary Gland surgeries in Savannah, salvaging the salivary gland function and preventing surgical excision of the glands. He obtained credentials as a Certified ENT Coder with the American Academy of Professional Coders to insure maximal understanding of the ever-changing regulations that affect patient care. The practice’s Electronic Medical Records System allows patients an opportunity to request appointments, request information, transmit prescriptions, provide valuable information links, complete patient medical forms and provide updated medical data.

Dr. Oliver lives on Skidaway Island with his wife, Rhonda, and children Ashley and Austin. His son, Steven, works in Augusta, and son, Ben, attends Savannah State University. The family enjoys traveling, attending sporting events and hunting and fishing together. Dr. Oliver is Past President of Forest City Gun Club and remains active as a member of the Capital Assets Committee.
