Understanding Styles and Technologies of Hearing Aids
Coastal ENT Hearing Center has the right hearing solution for you- regardless of your type of hearing loss, lifestyle, personal preferences, age or budget.
The size of hearing aids can range in style from the smallest invisible-in-the-canal (IIC) hearing aid to the larger behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing aid. Based on the degree of your hearing loss, the audiologist will help you decide which hearing aid will best suit your needs and preferences.
Custom hearing aids – (ITE- In-The-ear), (ITC – In-The-canal), (CIC- Completely-In-Canal) and (IIC-Invisible-In-Canal) are individually crafted to your ear canal to fit perfectly and comfortably in your ears, providing absolute discretion. The size of a custom hearing aid may vary depending on how small or inconspicuous the hearing aid is.
RIC – (Receiver-In-Canal) hearing aids are small and slim, which make them discreet. They literally disappear behind the ear and are very comfortable to wear.
BTE – (Behind-The-Ear) hearing aids are often recommended for people with more significant hearing loss. They also sit behind the ear and are usually a little larger than the other hearing aid models.
